The following is a list of plant species growing in our butterfly garden. With time, we will include photos and short descriptions for all of these plants. This page serves as a prototype of what we would like to do with all of our other garden sectors, but it will take a long time, and this effort should always be seen as a work in progress, with every new class of students providing updates and new insights.

Aesculus (butterfly weed) This lone plant was found growing right out of the asphalt on Tibbett Avenue. Seeds must have blown from our garden and germinated in some pretty harsh conditions. |

Buddelia (butterfly bush) This is one of the most popular shrubs growing in the garden. It involves practically no maintenance, hardly needs any water or pruning, and sends out new tufts of flowers on a daily basis. It is a huge magnet for pollinators, especially butterflys. |

Rosa Rugosa This bush grows in a few areas of the garden. It is quite beautiful and incredibly fragrant at various times of the year. It, on the other hand, is very aggresive, and is tough to keep contained, especially as it is dangerously thorny. |
