The attacks of 9/11 were a blow to the students and teachers at JFK High School. Family members of students and alumni died on that day. Mary DeCesare, football coach, math teacher, and college adviser took it upon herself to organize a dedication ceremony. The Environmental Club donated a beautiful Pin Oak tree for this living memorial, and helped to plant it in time for the ceremony, in which relations to those lost, placed ribbons on the tree.
