Once again, we had some grant money
to pay some students to work on the garden throughout the summer. Our
projects included:
- Getting rid of the herb beds out in the parking
lot section of the garden
- Removing invasives from the upper fringes of
our wetlands, and planting native plants in their place: this included
montauk daisies, echinachea, and veronica
- Adding a picnic table to the barbecue section
of the garden
- Adding ground covers to the northern border
of the garden adjacent to the new school
- Cleaning out the pond
- woodchipping paths
- tree pruning
- Adding compost to the whole garden
- LOTS and LOTS of weeding, and not too much watering
due to the rainy conditions
- We thank the following students for their help
this summer. We had an awesome team, and got much accomplished.
